Like to install hardwood flooring in my condo. Live on the third floor. Worried about the noise. What is the best underlay to reduce the noise?

  1. This is a very good question. The answer can get very complex because there are many variables involved. One of those is the type of product used and the method of installation. Generally speaking, if the product is being glued down, then 6.0 mm cork is recommended for sound deadening. If the product is a floating installation then you have a few options: An acoustic pad (Torly’s 4-in-1 pad has received great acoustical ratings) or cork (2.5 mm cork actually received better ratings with certain products than 6.0mm for this type of installation).
