Toilet Making Noise

Question

Can anyone tell me why the toilet in our third bath groans (a loud moaning sound from the pipes) when it is flushed? Two of our three toilets are fine, however, the third toilet which is located off of our bedroom groans quite loudly for about 15-20 seconds when flushed. This has been going on for about a month now and we don’t know if it’s due to the cold, or if something else is going on. Other than the loud moaning, it works fine.

  1. The groaning is probably caused in the ball cock, i.e., the valve that allows the water into the toilet. Another possibility would be the shutoff valve is singing. Try adjusting that valve while flushing the toilet and water is flowing.
